Shear Feed Table, Cross Break Sheet Metal

As Director of Product Development and Manufacturing at Cross Break Sheet Metal, I am responsible for specifying and implementing production methods and equipment that are scale and budget appropriate. I designed the components of this shear feed table to be CNC milled or simply cut to length and drilled stock materials to achieve project budget goals and ensure simplicity in sourcing and assembly. Dimensional analysis and documentation of the shear’s cutting action, components, and clearances informed the feed table design dimensions, materiality, and mounting features. The feed table mounting components were designed with adjustability features to provide the capability of making positioning adjustments to ensure the ease of material movement through the shear blades. These components also incorporated drill bushings, allowing the mounting components to be used as drill fixtures during installation. Implementing the shear feed table improved production efficiency by reducing physical strain on the machine operator, reducing the processing time by 80%, and improving process accuracy and quality.
